Registration for May-June 2013 Children's Programs!

Registration for our May & June Childrens' Programs will begin on Saturday, April 27th at 11am.

In order to register, fill out the registration form and bring it to the Children's Desk. Registration forms will be processed in the order in which they are received.  Paper forms are also available in the library.

You may register for 4 programs on the first day.  If there are additional programs that you are interested in, you may write "Wait List" next to them on the registration form.  If there are spots available, you will be automatically registered and we will notify you by phone.

You may register over the phone after the first day of registration.

Each Trueflix title includes the following elements:    

Watch the Video:   A streaming video engages the student and introduces the topic. The video is strategically placed—and supported by reading research—to enable the student to build crucial background knowledge before accessing the book.

Read the Book:    A flip book version of the True Book with page-turning and read-along features, chapter tabs, and vocabulary terms identified and defined.

Explore the Web:   Related web links to help further extend learning, broaden the content area, and provoke further research.

Explore More: Related content that provides opportunities for further research and reading.

Activity Center: Includes a "Show What you Know" 10 question multiple choice quiz, and a "Word Match" game based on the important words included in each title.

Grades K - 2

Reading comes alive with TumbleBooks. Try a TumbleBook and have stories come to life in an educational and interactive way.  The TumbleBook Library is an online collection of animated talking picture books which teach children the joys of reading in a format they'll love. How many TumbleBooks have you read this month? The librarians at the Gold Coast Library want you to give it a try... and you will be rewarded with a wonderful prize.  Come to the library to pick up a TumbleBook reading log or print one at home.  When you have completed listening to ten Tumblebooks come to the library, hand in your reading log and choose a prize from the treasure chest.  Happy Tumbling!

Tumblebooks - Watch a good picture book today!

TumbleBooks are an online library of  picture books. TumbleBooks are presented in an innovative and exciting format which teaches children to learn to read, build vocabulary and have fun at the same time. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books and adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

TumbleBookCloud Junior

TumbleBookCloud Junior is an online collection of chapter books, children's classics, graphic novels, children's audio books and National Geographic videos. This collection is designed for adventurous readers in grades 3-8.

TumbleBookCloud

TumbleBookCoud is an online collection of  titles for middle school and high school students which features adjustable online text and complete audio narration. Sentences are highlighted as they are being read and the pages turn automatically. The collection features graphic novels, YA/teen novels, high interest/low level books for both middle school and high school students, poetry, short stories, plus classics of American and English literature.
