E-Library
This Web site serves as your e-library. Through it you have access to a whole host of services ranging from databases to homework help. The list below describes the services offered on or through this Web site through the home page buttons.
 
   

About Us – Describes briefly who we are, what our mission is, our history, our policies and the status of our library.

Search Engines Provides links to various search engines to assist you in finding information.

Access Databases – Provides a comprehensive list of databases available for research or just finding information on a wide array of subjects. Some are our own databases, some are through the NLS, and some through the ALIS system.

For Kids &Teens – Sites and databases available--and suitable for kids and teens/young adults on a wide variety of subjects, from homework help to sports and entertainment.

For Parents - Access to the best of what's available on the internet and at the library on issues concerning today's parents and caregivers.

For Seniors - An information and referral service for seniors provided  in NLS member libraries.

Live Homework Help - Provides help from real live tudors via the internet for 4th to 12th grade students every day from 3 PM to 8PM for up to 20 minutes of one-on-one help.

Ask a Librarian – Provides a means of obtaining help from a librarian from your own home.

Links to Other Sites – Provides an extensive listing of links to useful, informative and entertaining sites, including government sites.

Long Island Links – Provides a list of links to sites relating to Long Island.

Readers’ Advisory – Provides up-to-date reading recommendations from various sources.

References Online – A collection of databases and links to provide reference information online in lieu of reference books.



NLS (Nassau Library System)
NLS is a consortium of the 55 public libraries in Nassau County created to foster quality public library service and to enhance library resources and services. NLS maintains a Service Center at 900 Jerusalem Avenue, Uniondale, NY 11553. Among the services available to Gold Coast residents is the Long Island Talking Book Library which is a free library for individuals who cannot hold, handle or see well enough to use regular print books. LITBL lends professionally recorded books and magazines and the equipment needed to play them. Materials are sent to borrowers and returned by postage-free mail.
